  • International Networking for Virtually Improved Teacher Education (INVITE) Program

The International Networking for Virtually Improved Teacher Education (INVITE) program strives to internationalize teacher education, promote digital cooperation, and enable future teachers to be sensitive towards diverse cultures. Five topics – Diversity, Inclusion, Migration, Digitalization, and Sustainability – guide the interdisciplinary, collaborative work of faculty and students through INVITE events. The INVITE program helps develop and strengthen international school partnerships and exchanges of educational material. A few outlets the INVITE program provides to achieve these goals include the Winter School for aspiring teachers to compare teacher training in other countries, Teaching Week for current international faculty, online resources, e-mentoring, and study abroad programs at partner schools. The INVITE program transcends language and geographical limitations to provide a transformative exchange for international educators.

Fulbright programs offer scholars and professionals opportunities to engage in international collaboration, projects, and research. Awards are open to a wide range of scholars at all career levels and have flexible durations from a few months to over a year.

Annually the Fulbright Program offers 8,000 fellowships. Since 1946, more than 400,000 scholars from 160 countries have taken part in the program. The duration, potential start dates, and requirements of each opportunity are outlined on the Fulbright website for prospective scholars to explore. Fulbright programs are designed to expand and strengthen international relationships, as well as increase educational and research opportunities. Some award opportunities include the Fulbright Scholar Award, the Fulbright Distinguished Scholar Award, Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholar Award, and the Fulbright International Education Administrator Award.

This letter is a recent example of UNC Charlotte faculty member and long-time participant in the German-American Consortium who received a Fulbright Global Scholar Award to work with colleagues at Pädagogische Hochschule Ludwigsburg. It exemplifies the partnership between a public university in North Carolina and a public university in Germany. The letter contains information about the mentorship and advising participants in this program would receive abroad.
